How We Got Our Excellent Reputation

DPR Roofing has been in operation for over 28 years. During this time we have cultivated a reputation as being honest, reliable and accessible. But more importantly we are capable of carrying out high quality roof repairs and roof installations to homes and businesses all over the Yorkshire area.

As a testament to this we have carried out a large number of jobs over the spring period for some very prestigious clients, including a major Yorkshire housing association and the UK Government. We have also carried out a number of domestic jobs. Regardless of the client, we work hard to provide the best possible roofing services with a professional demeanour.

Behind everything we do is customer satisfaction. We would not be in operation after 28 years without a trail of satisfied customers behind us. Unfortunately, there are many roofing firms that don’t have the same level of professional pride as us. We have been called many times to repair or replace shoddy workmanship. We are more than happy to help in these circumstances.

Regardless of the roof type we can help. Our skilled team of engineers have worked on everything, from flat roofs with a GRP covering, to pitched roofs with slates and tiles. Now that we have got through winter, now is the time to start making repairs and shoring up to prepare for the next one.

Winter is obviously the most testing time for a roof. This is when issues like leaks and gaps start to occur. These issues can have obvious, serious, ramifications to your homes and businesses. Not least of which is the onset of damp. A notoriously difficult problem to remedy. ‘Prevention is better than the cure’ is as relevant to roofing as it is to anywhere. Now is the time to get your roof repaired and looked at, in preparation for winter.

DPR Install Garage Roof

2017 has been a brilliant one so far for DPR. We have worked on a number of interesting projects, including some new contracts for a new housing association with properties as far afield as  Whitby, a government data centre in Lancashire  and a number of train stations.

However, while commercial roofing is our forte, we also do plenty of domestic jobs too. We recently had the pleasure of giving a new lease of life to a little garage in Ackworth. The owner of the property contacted us as his garage roof was in bad shape, but the owner still needed the use of it on a regular basis. Therefore some TLC work was needed. He contact DPR who, after an initial survey, were more than happy to take on the job. We attended the property and got to work within days. We are used to dealing with large commercial roofing jobs for the most part, so this smaller domestic work was a pleasant change. We managed to turn it around in record time, and the owner is now delighted with his new roof.  The owner decided to opt for a Plastisol profile sheet roof, for longevity and minimum maintenance. They also liked the appearance, a factor which cannot be overstated when the garage roof is viewable from their home, like this one is.

Our team of skilled engineers install the new roof in a matter of hours  and we left the property with the owner so pleased about being able to use  dry and leak free garage.

When is the Right Time to Call the Roofers in?

We know that your roof might not be that exciting when compared with your kitchen or bathroom. However, it seems that people make the dire mistake of putting off calling a roofer until they have no other option but will readily call a plumber when even a small issue appears.

However, this is a risky attitude to have. While having no hot water may be unpleasant, if something were to go wrong with your roof it can be disastrous, even dangerous.

It is no exaggeration to say that you may eventually end up with a collapsed roof. Because of this we at DPR recommend you inspect your roof at least twice a year, ideally at the changing of the seasons. This way you can prevent issues before they happen. For flat roofs look for bubbling, warping, splitting and standing water. For pitched roofs, on the outside look for missing tiles, on the inside looks for damp patches or lifting wall plaster/paper.

If you spot any of the above then it is worth calling in a professional roofer to come and take a look at things. You may be tempted to try and tackle the problem yourself or call in a handyman, it goes without saying you will just make matters worse if there is no professional on the job as the roof is an integral and vital part of your home, REMEMBER … all that you cherish is sat underneath your protective roof covering.

If you are struggling to carry out regular inspections then this is something that DPR can carry out on your behalf. DPR have over 28 years experience, so if we take care of your roof you can rest assured knowing that it will stay exactly where it should, and you will stay dry while you sleep.

Commercial Roofing Services

DPR have been operating for over 28 years. In this time we have grown from a couple of roofers to a full team of engineers, and even a couple of members of office staff.

This in-house growth has been accompanied by a huge expansion in the types of jobs that DPR offers. Since we started we have offered both domestic and commercial roofing services. But it is our commercial sector which has expanded the most.

The roof on any building is important, but if it is possible it is more important on a commercial building. Even a small leak can go on to create a huge amount of damage. In an office environment if water comes into contact with any electrical equipment it can be catastrophic. In an industrial environment free flowing water can pose a serious health and safety risk.

If left unattended a small leak can go on to create much bigger issues, such as a roof collapse. The repair cost of such a job could be too much for small or new businesses to cope with.

DPR offers wide range of commercial roofing services to ensure that the worst never happens. Some of the services we include are:

Fascias & Soffits

Felt & Asphalt Roofing

Flat Roofing

General Commercial Roof Repairs

Glazing Bars Repairs

Guttering, Gutter Clearing & Gutter Linings

Lead Work

Pipe & Duct Work

Pointing

Roof Light Replacement

Roof Sheet Replacement

Roof Tiling

Single Ply Roofs

Slating / Slate Roofing

At DPR as well as repairs we recommend that regular maintenance be carried out. This is to stop issues from ever occurring in the first place. If the phrase ‘prevention is better than the cure’ applies anywhere, then it is roofing.

Roof Repairs Are Vitally Important

Much like you would look after your own personal health, the roof of a building must be looked after to ensure everything remains in good working order. They are certainly not glamourous projects, and are easy to keep putting to the back of the pile, but the truth is, if left, you could well be exposing your home to some serious problems.

Unfortunately, we often only consider doing something with our roof when we have an active problem and need something repaired immediately. What would be better is if we took preventative measures at strategic times throughout the year to check the general health of our roofs. That way, you can prevent water damage starting or if it has, prevent any further damage.

When it comes to fixing a problem, you must always start at the location of the leak. Unfortunately, a lot of leaks do not show in the place the problem is, often running down boards or finding a gap at the least possible point of resistance. As a result, detecting the location could well be the hardest point, and might require a professional roofer.

Once you have located the issue, it is then important to work out what damage has been done and how much more is going to happen (depending on weather, the damage condition now and other influencing factors). Determining these will probably also show whether or not you can do the repair yourself, or you require a professional roofing company.

You should also consider at this point if your roof has been damaged by general wear and tear, which should really have been looked after, or through a freak event like strong winds and rain. You may be able to use an insurance company to cover some of the costs if this is the case.

If you are worried that your roof has not been checked for a few years, do not sit back and wait. It is important your roof is checked at least annually, so speak to a professional company who can come and carry out a check on your roof, before a large problem occurs. New Roof for Spring

Spring is the season of change. With days getting longer and weather getting brighter, many people see it as a good opportunity to make some kind of change in their lives. This often involves home improvements. Whether you are looking to increase the value of your home or replace the old with new to modernize your property, Spring is the perfect time of year to carry out work on your roof or, ideally, get a new roof installed entirely.

There are many reasons why you might be considering a new roof for your domestic or commercial property. Wear and tear and natural aging are common reasons for undergoing a roof replacement. Alternatively, you may be considering a new roof because it does not provide enough ventilation or roof space. Of course, there may be more obvious factors such as damp patches, rust and holes in the attic or interior of your property, which influence your decision. No matter what the reason, roofs are an imperative part of a building’s structure and it is therefore crucial that they are kept maintained and in a good condition.

Even if a new roof is just a consideration, Spring is a great time to begin the planning process and DPR can help you with this. Through completing a thorough roof survey, we can assess the state of your roof and advise on the best solutions.

As a leading roofing company in Leeds and throughout Yorkshire, DPR also provide a range of roofing services, encompassing all aspects of the roofing system from the design of the structure, ventilation, and insulation, through to the choice of material and roof installation. Whatever your requirements, we will tailor our services to create a high-quality roofing system which complements your property.

If you would like to know more about the types of new roofs our engineers work on or if you would like to know more about any of our other roofing services, please do not hesitate to contact us on 0113 335 0043 or email us at [email protected].

Why Slate Is Still a Fantastic Choice For Roofing

One of the earliest recorded uses of slate is from the 1300’s, and it is still in use today. And it is easy for us as DPR to see why.

We see, use and install slate pretty much every day. A well-made slate roof will be completely water tight and will last anywhere up to 150 years with little to no maintenance. They also look fantastic, and work with a number of architectural styles.

Its appearance is a large part of why it has endured as long as it has. Depending on the light, and the slates proximity to water it has a different sheen. There are also different veneers and also different types of slate that can be used for a huge range of appearances.

From an environmental standpoint there have been several studies which have confirmed it to be the natural material with the lowest environmental impact. Other roofing materials leak toxic compounds for up to a couple of years after they are installed, whereas natural slate only uses water in its production.

There is also a good future for slate. Cupa Pizzaras have recognised that the solar absorption and diffusion make it ideal for capturing and storing solar power. There has even been a Thermoslate system developed which can integrate invisible solar collectors into any existing natural slate roof.

The best thing about these solar slate panels is that they are quarried and installed exactly the same as standard roofing slate. They even look the same, so it saves the client the need for unsightly solar panels, and saves the installer the hassle of making room for them.

DPR Ltd have been installing and repairing slate roofs since we began over 28 years ago. During this time we have worked on thousands of slate roofs. We know this material like no other, and we are glad to see that it is moving with the times, and will not get left behind. If you would like to know more about our services with slate roofing just give us a call on 0113 335 0043.

Amount of new homes registered is second highest in almost a decade

The amount of homes that have been registered in the UK for 2016 is up 70% on the levels of registration at the time of the housing crash in 2008/09. With so much uncertainty around Britain’s future after Brexit the UK house-building sector has remained resilient and there has been strong growth in regions outside of London.

151,687 new homes were registered in 2016, with Yorkshire & Humberside gaining a huge 27% increase in the number of houses registered compared to stats from 2015. This is highly welcome news for us here at DPR Roofing. Having provided domestic and commercial roofing services to property owners in Leeds and its surrounding areas for over 20 years, DPR will continue to do so.

The overall UK total excluding London registrations shows a 4% increases compared to statistics from 2015, with 134,365 registrations in 2016 compared to 129,744 in 2015. The number of new homes completed in 2016 was also up on the numbers for 2015, but only by a slight 1% margin. 141,175 new homes were completed in 2016 compared to 140,407 in 2015.

An interesting fact to come out of the recent figures is that 2016 saw the highest number of detached houses registered in the UK since 2004 with 46,118 and the highest number of semi-detached houses registered since records began 35 years ago.

Talking about the recent figures, NHBC Business Development Director Mark Jones said: “Both industry and consumer confidence remains high and early signs indicate that the new year has begun positively.”

Promising words that hopefully indicate the UK housing sector becoming even stronger.

All the team here at DPR look forward to working on any new roofs in the area and are always looking to build new working relationships with clients.

Essential Maintenance for Your Property.

DPR have been installing and maintaining roofs on commercial buildings in Leeds the surrounding areas, such as Barnsley for over 28 years.

To ensure the longevity and proper operation of your roof and of your building as a whole, it is advisable to carry out regular and thorough maintenance. However for different businesses and structures different maintenance procedures will be needed.

At DPR we always take the time to talk to our commercial customers about their maintenance routine. Each client is different, as is the needs of their properties. With over 28 years of trading in roofing, DPR has amassed a huge amount of experience and can advise on all aspects of commercial roofing.

DPR provide maintenance for a number of commercial clients in Barnsley. As mentioned the needs of each client is different. For example one of our repeat clients, Potters Ballotoni, regularly produce a lot of glass dust and sand during their day to day manufacturing processes. We recommended a regular gutter cleaning plan of 4 times a year due to dust volumes blocking gutters so regular.

However other clients have us on an annual, bi annual, or even on a monthly rolling contract and at each client we keep an eye out for different things, as different structures and different roofing materials will develop issues in different areas.

We also provide high level inspections via our own .M.E.W.P., which are often used when access is difficult as is the case in a lot of commercial buildings in Leeds. Digital imagery is also a useful tool in our arsenal. We use digital imagery to show what effects roof damage can have and how our ongoing maintenance work will keep your roof functional for the foreseeable future. We can also use digital imagery to monitor a roofs condition over time, as we store every roof on file for future reference going back for many years.

If you or your business is located in Barnsley or Leeds, or just about anywhere in Yorkshire and you would like to learn about our maintenance services then don’t hesitate to give us a call on 0113 335 0043 to find out more.

Slate vs. Tile Roof

Having provided professional roofing services for over 28 years in Leeds, DPR are just the specialists you need if you are looking to replace or repair your roof. DPR’s extensive experience in the industry also means that they can provide expert advice on the best roofing solution for your property. Whether you are looking for roofing work to be done on a commercial property or a domestic property, no project is too big for DPR.

Slate roofing is a popular choice for those looking to maintain a more traditional look for their property. DPR provide a wide choice of natural and man-made slates and with a life expectancy of more than 100 years on many products, slate brings longevity and durability which are essential characteristics of a reliable roof.

Tiled roofing is another popular and reliable choice. With a more modern appearance, tiles can come in a variety of natural, clay and concrete styles depending on your personal taste.  Tiles provide an extremely weather proof system and like slate, provide an effective shelter for your property. A tiled roof can last up to 90 years.

Whatever roofing material you choose, DPR will provide a customised service, including tile and slate colour matching to complement the features of your property so that your finished roof is not only resilient but aesthetically pleasing with a professional, high quality finish.

As a leading roofing company in Leeds, our slate and tile roofing experts plan each stage of your roof repair or replacement in detail to ensure a comprehensive and efficient service is provided.
